MICRO MACHINING

Micro Machiningfor Small Precision Parts

Miniature shafts, pins, sleeves, inserts and connector components, with small-feature feasibility, burr control, handling and inspection reviewed against your drawings.

Micro-machined miniature shafts, pins and precision components

What is micro machining?

Micro machining is precision CNC turning for very small components such as shafts, pins, sleeves, inserts and connector contacts. The material is supported close to the cutting point to reduce movement and keep small features consistent.

OUJI operates 5 Citizen Cincom R04VI machines for parts up to Ø4 mm. Another 5 Japanese Star SL-10 machines extend the working range to Ø10 mm. Final tolerances and the machining plan are confirmed after drawing review.

Micro machining size capabilities

Our equipment supports miniature turned parts up to Ø10 mm in diameter.

R04VI maximum length: 40 mm with a fixed guide bushing or 30 mm with a rotary guide bushing.

SL-10 maximum length: 135 mm with a stationary guide bushing or 105 mm with a rotary guide bushing.

Tolerances shown are typical targets. Final tolerance depends on material, feature size, part length and inspection method, and is confirmed after drawing review.

Materials for micro machining

The Citizen R04VI and Star SL-10 can machine common metal and engineering plastic bar stock. We select the machine, tooling and cutting parameters according to the part size, material and required features.

Stainless steel

303, 304, 316, 17-4PH

Precision shafts, pins, sleeves and medical components

Carbon & alloy steel

1215, 12L14, 4140

Pins, fasteners, bushes and wear-resistant parts

Brass

C36000, C3604

Connector contacts, fittings, inserts and small valves

Copper alloys

C1100, C14500, phosphor bronze

Conductive pins, terminals and electrical contacts

Aluminum

2011, 6061, 7075

Lightweight sleeves, inserts and miniature housings

Titanium

Grade 2, Grade 5

Medical parts and high-strength miniature components

Engineering plastics

POM, PEEK, PTFE

Insulating bushes, sleeves and low-friction parts

Titanium, hardened materials and very small or thin-wall features require drawing review before tolerance and production feasibility are confirmed.
