Secondary Processes for Custom Machined & Fabricated Parts

Surface finishing, heat treatment, precision grinding and EDM coordinated with machining, final inspection and the requirements on your drawing.

Plan the Route Before the First Cut

Secondary processing affects dimensions, surfaces and inspection access. These controls keep the drawing requirements connected from machining through final release.

  1. 01

    Drawing and specification review

Material condition, process standard, finished dimensions, masking areas and required records are confirmed before release.

  2. 02

    Allowance and sequence planning

Coating build, heat-treatment distortion and stock for grinding or finish machining are planned into the manufacturing route.

  3. 03

    Controlled processing

In-house operations and qualified processing partners work from the approved requirements, lot information and acceptance criteria.

  4. 04

    Final-condition inspection

Applicable dimensions, hardness, coating, surface condition and documentation are checked before protected packing and shipment.

Secondary Process Questions

Direct answers about route planning, dimensional control and documentation.

What secondary processes can OUJI coordinate?

Common routes include anodizing, electroless nickel and zinc plating, passivation, powder coating, black oxide, bead blasting and polishing, together with heat treatment, precision grinding and EDM when the drawing requires them. Process availability is confirmed against the material, geometry, specification and quantity.

Can machining and secondary processes be quoted under one order?

Yes. OUJI reviews machining allowance, process sequence, masking, outside processing, final inspection and packing as one manufacturing route. Work may be completed in-house or through qualified processing partners, while OUJI remains responsible for requirement transfer and final acceptance.

What information should be included in the RFQ?

Send the 3D model and controlled drawing with the material grade and starting condition, process name and governing standard, type or class, color or hardness range, coating or case depth, masking areas, finished-state tolerances and required inspection records. Mark cosmetic faces, threads, bearing fits and sealing surfaces clearly.

How are dimensional changes after processing controlled?

Coatings can add measurable thickness, and heat treatment can move critical features. OUJI reviews which dimensions apply before or after processing, then plans masking, machining allowance, staged inspection, grinding or finish machining where needed. Critical dimensions are verified in the required final condition.

What secondary-process documents can be supplied?

Depending on the drawing and purchase requirements, available records may include material certificates, heat-treatment certificates, hardness and case-depth results, coating certificates or thickness checks, surface-roughness results and final dimensional inspection reports. Required documents should be identified before quotation.
